The Bio

“The idea of recording an album as a wedding gift to my partner came on suddenly.”  Riding off of the success of Enio’s 2010 album “Immolate”, comes a brand new 11 song album, made specifically for his marriage to long-time partner.  The album is called “Today” and it hit Enio with an incredible force.  Considering that the wedding is scheduled for July 2011, he knew he had to act fast.  “I’m only ever going to get married once, and I’ve never even written my partner a love song, so I decided instead to write and record him a love album!”

Surprisingly, Enio decided to change directions in terms of genre and sound for this new album.  Despite winning over many new fans, and garnering some great traction in the Indie ElectroPop scene, something new and fresh for this Toronto-based artist was in order.  “I’ve had enough of the electro pop sound.  It was great, and I loved every minute of it, and I may revisit it at some point in the future, but I never set out to be ONLY an electro pop artist.  I’m focusing my efforts on compiling a body of work. I want to make 100 different records, with 100 different sounds.”  Enio isn’t interested in staying in the same place.  Those quick to classify his music will be hard pressed to do so when they hear the acoustic leanings of “Today”.

“When I was making this record, I was very aware that I would be sharing it with all of the guests at our wedding, including mine and my partner’s parents and family.  So, I wanted to make this album as pleasant and accessible as I could without crossing too far over into sugary sweet territory.”  “Today” is comprised of 9 original songs, with cover versions of Sade’s “By Your Side” (the original is the couple’s wedding song) and The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven” (a song Enio performed at a close friend’s wedding back in 2010).  The new album, being released on July 5th, 2011, plays like a love letter to his partner, friends and family.  Included on the album are many collaborations.  “Nothing Closer” was co-written by long-time friend Caroline Brooks (of Good Lovelies fame);  New York-based poet Billy Merrell contributed lyrics for 3 tracks;  and Enio’s “best man” Antonella Scali co-wrote “We Go Together”.  “Our wedding isn’t just about us, it has implications on our families and friends as well, so I wanted to make sure they felt included on the album, and not like they were eavesdropping on some secret conversation between the two of us.”

Enio has had some great success in the past year, with three releases (Immolate, Today, and Neon Dreaming); his track “Knee-Jerk” was featured in the Indie film “BearCity” as well as an upcoming episode of “Gossip Girl” next season; and Enio has been featured on a number of magnificent Indie music review sites, blogs, and CD compilations.

The album “Today” has a street date of July 5th, 2011 in both physical and digital format.  It’s Enio’s third release with Flashing Green Light Records, and 7th overall.  We hope you enjoy the new album as much as Enio enjoyed making it.

Rufus Wainwright, Feist, and Regina Spektor

Wow! Just ‘discovered’ you. Downloaded a few of the free tracks to accompany me on a weekend of, well… whatever it brings. But, if I want to buy some of your stuff – which vendor do you get most out of – presumably if I buy direct from your site?
